Rowmark's founder, the late Fred Kremer, was quoted as saying, "Leadership is best demonstrated by giving back to others." He led by example and was very active in the Findlay, Ohio and Hancock County community, especially with the local United Way. Nowhere is that more evident than at the company Fred founded. Rowmark's culture is rooted in giving back to others. Each year, Rowmark and its employees donate money and in-kind donations to charities throughout the community, making it one of Findlay's most philanthropic companies. Many Rowmark employees serve as volunteers on their own time as well, working to make Findlay a great place to live.
The employees of Rowmark give generously to the United Way, and although Rowmark is a small employer compared to major employers located within the community, the company is recognized as a leader in per-capita giving within the community. Employee donation participation has been 90% or higher for the past ten years. Rowmark has a long-standing tradition of strong support with the United Way.
Nearly every employee at Rowmark is involved in at least one charitable organization as a volunteer, committee member or board member. Charitable involvement has proven to be a great way to build leadership traits in the employees of Rowmark. The employees benefit from the rewarding experience, the company benefits from the skills the employees acquire, and the non-profit organizations benefit from the involvement and volunteerism.
In August of 2007, Findlay, Ohio experienced the second worst flood in the community's history, when the Blanchard River crested at more than 7 feet above flood stage. The flood destroyed and damaged a number of homes, schools and businesses throughout the Findlay downtown area and Hancock County. The employees of Rowmark rallied in support of clean-up and rebuilding efforts for their co-workers affected by the flood, and the community at large. Rowmark closed its facility so our employees could provide desperately needed assistance to its employees and community members devastated by the flood. This included cleaning supplies, labor, appliances and furnace units. When disaster strikes, taking care of our work family and community must come first!
